This course is intended to be a discussed around specific trenchless pipeline installation methods with a focus on microtunneling and horizontal directional drilling. Starting with an overview of these and other methods and the pros and cons of each, speakers will then “drill down” (see what I did there?”) into details and case studies around microtunneling/HDD and lessons learned in the application of each.

Upon completion of the course, participants will be able to:

• Define the difference between various trenchless pipeline installation techniques
• Discuss pros/cons for each method to determine “best fit” for project applications
• Apply lessons learned from case study projects for the discussed methods
