Course Information

Number:FNU0014060
Name:Use of HEC-RAS 2D for Disaster Preparation and Response

New Course:No
Description:

This presentation will demonstrate vaious techniques and considerations for utilizing the 2D modeling functionalities of HEC-RAS 5.0x for modeling large, complex areas for flood inundation and forecasting activities.

Content:

Specifially, the presenation will focus on ways in which these techniques can be used to assist municipal agencies in resource staging and dissemination before, during and immediately after a storm event.

Objectives:

  • Discuss internal and external data requirements for executing rain-on-grid modeling
  • Demonstrate use of refinement regions and breaklines to gain computational mesh detail or maximize computational efficiencies
  • Discuss the usage of inflow hydrographs to minimize the extent of the computational area where possible

Students will be invoiced via email for applicable course fees.
